Sein Name war Jes\u00fas Aldabaldetreku, er war damals 36 Jahre alt und hatte von Kindesbeinen an in diesem Handwerk gearbeitet. Jes\u00fas war ein weiteres Glied einer langen Tradition der Holzverarbeitung, die in diesem Ort der Provinz Gipuzkoa seit mehr als f\u00fcnfhundert Jahren betrieben wurde. W\u00e4hrend sich der Gro\u00dfteil der baskischen K\u00fcstenorte im 16. Jahrhundert der Fischerei widmete, spezialisierte sich Zarautz auf den Bau kleiner Fischerboote und der Traineras, schneller Ruderboote, die f\u00fcr den Walfang von gro\u00dfer Bedeutung waren. F\u00fcr dieses Handwerk wurde der Ort weltweit ber\u00fchmt. Die tiefgehenden wirtschaftlichen Ver\u00e4nderungen, die Europa Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts erlebte, brachten den Niedergang der traditionellen Werften mit sich. Am Horizont kam die Krise auf. Eine T\u00fcr, die Jahrhunderte lang offen gestanden hatte, begann sich zu schlie\u00dfen. Doch gleichzeitig \u00f6ffneten sich mehrere Fenster.<\/p>\n<p>Eines davon war der Tourismus, denn parallel zur Industriellen Revolution wurde an einem Teil des Kantabrischen Meers der Strand-Tourismus popul\u00e4r. Zarautz war mit seinem \u00fcber zwei Kilometer langen Sandstrand einer der Orte, den das K\u00f6nigshaus und die damalige Bourgeoisie auserw\u00e4hlten, um ihre ber\u00fchmten Wellenb\u00e4der zu genie\u00dfen. Jene Werften, in denen Jahrhunderte lang Schiffe gebaut worden waren, begannen nun Luxusm\u00f6bel herzustellen. Fast 70 Jahre nach seiner Gr\u00fcndung ist Muebles Treku immer noch das Unternehmen der direkten Nachfahren von Jes\u00fas Aldabaldetreku.
